Here's a very cool inflatable airplane from Goodyear that was marketed to the air force as a 'plane in a box' that could be dropped to downed pilots or carried easily by a jeep. Sadly, it was vulnerable to arrows...

Her school had commencement last night. She's moving up to the 8th grade at the same school, during which we will have to find a f#&%ing excellent high school for her.

Thanks for being a great daughter and for getting on the honor roll several times (they don't call it that, but it quacks like an honor roll)!

Scientists inject nanoparticles that enable them to turn specific genes on and off. There's a way to do it without the injection, but: "this would still require growing tumors inside humans to actually get these cell cultures in place, which means the treatment isn't yet ethically permissible in humans." Might have to wait a while for this treatment, though I expect a superhero to be based on the concept any moment now.
