So much for switching to diet

A new study from Johns Hopkins suggests cutting down on sweetened-drink intake, whether diet or regular, is the way to go. Will this deter me? Doubtful. I likes me that caffeine.

You could switch to caffeine pills!

Actually, I have some. Perhaps I'll see if I can phase out the diet drinks.

I drink mostly ice tea now. You get used to it.

I like the convenience of opening the can and drinking. Unless you're talking about canned ice tea? I haven't found any of that I can stomach.

No, they all seem to have sugar. I buy the Lipton Unsweetened or brew a batch and bring a water bottle full.

I remember a study I read in Science News sometime back, where people were assigned regular soda, diet soda, or fruit juice, and allowed to take whatever they wanted from a buffet.

People who drank fruit juice took the least calories overall, but people who drank diet soda came out even ahead of people who drank regular soda.

Sadly, that sounds about right. The ones drinking diet are just aware they have trouble resisting. It may be a first step, but it's a small one.

I share your pain. I've learned to drink decaf diet cola, and I'm trying to cut down on soda to save money, but it's not easy.

Too true! Good luck.
